Our Principal

Dear Benicia Middle School Community,

I am excited to be joining you as your new principal and anticipate a fantastic school year of learning and growth. I look forward to working with all of our students, professional staff,  parents and community members.

As the new principal of Benicia Middle School,  I want to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be successful in a safe and welcoming learning environment while helping them reach their potential and cultivate the necessary skills to succeed in the 21st century.  Middle school is an important time of transition and a key building block as students move from the elementary level, furthering their development as individuals and preparing them for the challenges of high school.

The staff and I will be working together closely as we build on the many strengths at BMS, continuing to offer learning experiences that will be rewarding, engaging and which promote the individual growth of each student.  By putting forth their best effort each day,  students can maximize on the important journey of their middle school years.

My wife and two boys are very happy to be joining the Benicia community. I strive to embody the life-long learner mentality and am constantly reading books, articles and research reports about education, learning and student development in the middle school years. During my free time, I enjoy trail running, backpacking, camping, and soccer (although I must confess that during these activities, I am most likely thinking about teaching and learning).

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you, working with you and building positive relationships that will contribute to the success of all of our students.  We will be sending more information at the beginning of August about registration and the start of school.

Please feel free to contact me at any time at dscott@beniciaunified.org.
